With the aim of continuing to strengthen Carnival in Gozo as a cultural activity that attracts an audience from Gozo, Malta and abroad, and therefore also gives an economic contribution to Gozo, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning is re-launching a scheme through which to assist individuals/organizations to rent a property that can be used to build floats or grotesque masks.
The premises must be rented for a minimum period of one year, which can be extended on an annual basis. Each applicant can be given a grant up to a maximum of twenty-five thousand euros (€25,000.00) per year if they build floats and up to a maximum of ten thousand euros (€10,000.00) per year if they build grotesque masks, which in both cases will cover the rent of the premises. The Scheme will be open for one month from the date of publication.
The application is made either online on the website https://gozo.gov.mt/ or taken by hand to the Head Office of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage, 11 Castle Hill, Victoria. In the website one will find attached the Guidelines and Regulations of the Scheme, including the eligibility criteria.
