Grant Agreement entered between the Ministry for Gozo and the University of Malta re The Phoenician Shipwreck off Gozo Post-Excavation Works (2022 -2025).
The spectacular success of the excavations carried out between 2018 and 2021 on the Phoenician shipwreck have produced a number of high-level results. These are contributing not just to a better knowledge of the Phoenicians in Gozo but also of the Maltese Islands’ role in the Archaic Mediterranean.
Results necessitate post-excavation works and studies by a team of international experts led by the University of Malta. The funding (a grant of thirty five thousand Euro (€35,000) annually for the years 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025) from the Ministry for Gozo will facilitate a holistic approach to the study of the site resulting in more substantive and tangible results.
