A financial assistance scheme is being launched to support individuals and organisations in renting a property where floats or grotesque masks can be constructed for the Gozo Regional Carnival 2027.
With the aim of further strengthening Carnival in Gozo as a cultural event that attracts audiences from Gozo, Malta, and abroad—while also contributing to Gozo’s economy—the Ministry for Gozo and Planning is reintroducing a scheme that helps individuals and organisations cover the cost of renting premises to build carnival floats or grotesque masks.
The premises must be rented for a minimum period of one year, which may be renewed annually. Each applicant may receive a grant of up to twenty-five thousand euros (€25,000) per year for the construction of floats in Sections A and B, and up to ten thousand euros (€10,000) per year for the construction of grotesque masks or floats in Section C. In both cases, the grant is intended to cover the rental costs of the premises.
The scheme will remain open for one month from the date of its publication. The Ministry for Gozo and Planning will appoint a Selection Board to review the applications received and verify that they meet the eligibility criteria established by the Ministry.
Applications must be submitted exclusively online through the website https://gozo.gov.mt, where the Scheme’s Guidelines and Regulations, including the eligibility criteria, are available.
